December 13, 2008 Greetings from Ft. Bragg, I pray that you are all doing well. I will be at Ft. Bragg for the Christmas Season covering the Catholic Services. My brother J.T. came by to visit for Thanksgiving. I have attached a photo, that is if I didn't mess it up. I will miss going to Mexico with the two groups to offer educational assistance and free dental clinics. Right now we are training to deploy to Afghanistan in April. We are doing field exercises and classes. Three weeks ago the Army helped me conquer my fear of heights by sending me to Airborne Training at Ft Benning GA. I completed my 5 jumps by throwing my 46 year old body out of a plane at 1200 feet. Now I can jump at 800 feet here at Ft. Bragg. This midlife crisis training is scaring the devil out of me. To be part of the 82nd Airborne Division you are asked to be an active paratrooper. I jump because the soldiers I am called to serve jump. My prayers, Vaya Con Dios, Matt |
